The Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA), the University Language Centre at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia offers Italian language courses for all internationalization programme students with no prior knowledge of Italian.

These courses are specifically aimed at improving students’ Italian language and intercultural skills.

To this day, the Centro Linguistico offers two courses: BASIC A1.1 and ELEMENTARY A1.2.

Please note: Basic A1.1 and Elementary A1.2 courses do not include Educational Credits (CFU)

The BASIC A1.1 course is devoted to foreign students belonging to the Internationalization Programme, with no knowledge of Italian language.

The whole course lasts 36 hours (frontal lessons).

At the end of the whole course, students must undergo a final written and oral exam in May/June 2020.

Students must attend at least 70% of the whole course to access the final exam. Students who will not attend at least 70% of the course will not be admitted to the final exam.

The BASIC A1.1 course will begin on March the 18th, 2020.

At the end of the course students  must be able to:

- understand short and simple written  messages

- understand simple sentences spoken to them slowly and related to everyday areas of concern

- ask  simple questions and answer to questions of the same kind

- write very short text with simple functional goal: postcards, lists of items, etc.

At the end of the course students must be able to:

- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance to their lives

- use basic sentence patterns with memorized phrases, groups of a few words and formulae in order to communicate information about him/herself, others, personal activities, places etc.

- communicate in a simple way and perform routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange, invite, offer suggestions, apologize, etc

- write short texts and link groups of words and sentences with simple connectors.
